In the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, Nigeria’s Niger Delta experienced relative peace and stability compared to the first quarter (Q1). Data indicates a 24% decline in lethal violence, with conflict related fatalities dropping from 221 in Q1 to 169 in Q2 (see page 2 for details). This trend reflects a modest improvement in regional stability during the period. According to PIND’s P4P Peace Map, the main drivers of lethal violence during this period included criminal activities, cult-related gang clashes, armed confrontations between hoodlums and security forces, communal conflicts, separatist agitation, natural disasters, domestic violence, and incidents of mob justice.
