The Niger Delta’s peace and security landscape remained relatively stable in the third quarter (Q3) compared to the second quarter (Q2). Data shows a 15.3% decline in lethal violence, with conflictrelated fatalities decreasing from 169 in Q2 to 143 in Q3 (see page 2 for details). This trend indicates a modest improvement in regional stability during the period. According to PIND’s P4P Peace Map, key drivers of lethal violence included criminal activities (such as kidnapping), armed clashes between hoodlums and security forces, separatist agitation, communal conflicts, gang clashes, mob justice, natural disasters, domestic violence, and human rights abuses by security forces.
