As youth inclusion becomes a key part of Nigeria’s development agenda, the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) joined emerging leaders and changemakers at the Global Shapers “Meet the Leader” virtual dialogue, themed “Nation Building via Community Development,” held on October 24, 2025.
Organized by the Global Shapers Community Hubs of Warri, Port Harcourt, Benin, Calabar, Uyo, and Owerri, the dialogue provided an opportunity for youth across the region to connect directly with development leaders shaping the future of the Niger Delta. The interactive session discussed how youth-led innovation, civic participation, and purpose-driven leadership can drive sustainable regional, national, and global transformation.
Reimagining Community Development Through Peace, Purpose, and Productivity
PIND’s Executive Director, Sam Ogbemi Daibo, delivered a keynote titled “Peace, Purpose, and Productivity: Reimagining Community Development for Nigeria’s Next Generation.” He emphasized that true transformation begins when young people take ownership of their communities, reminding participants that “our communities are not waiting rooms—they are workrooms.”
He urged youth to see themselves not as passive beneficiaries but as active architects of progress, builders of peace, drivers of purpose, and agents of productivity.
“Hope is the quiet decision to build, even when nothing seems certain,” he said, explaining that this is the foundation of enduring leadership, one that turns local action into regional progress.
Deepening Youth Engagement and Transformational Learning
For participants, the “Meet the Leader” dialogue offered more than inspiration; it provided a clear roadmap for success. The conversation linked ideas to action, equipping attendees with practical tools for community engagement and lasting impact. Participants learned about PIND’s longstanding development models, from peacebuilding to enterprise creation, demonstrating how structured partnerships can turn community aspirations into measurable results.
Through Q&A sessions, breakout discussions, and experience sharing, participants gained practical insights on how to replicate similar success stories in their own communities.
Fifteen Years of Empowering Youth to Lead Change
For 15 years, PIND has laid a foundation for youth-driven development in the Niger Delta through initiatives such as the Youth Employment Pathways (YEP) project, the Partners for Peace (P4P) Network, and the Peace Champions. These programs have fostered skills, leadership, and collaboration, turning young people into changemakers across various sectors.
Through NDLink, PIND’s digital knowledge-sharing platform, youth leaders can access stories, resources, and opportunities to develop their work. NDLink now functions as a hub for boosting youth innovation, connecting local ideas to regional and global discussions. These interconnected efforts reflect PIND’s broader vision to ensure that every individual actively contributes to fostering peace and inclusive growth in the Niger Delta, building communities where transformation is locally driven and collectively maintained.
Looking Ahead: Sustaining a Generation of Hope-Driven Leaders
The Global Shapers Dialogue reaffirmed that today’s youth are not just the future but the present drivers of development. For PIND, the dialogue reinforced its commitment to cultivating a generation of leaders grounded in peace, purpose, and productivity, leaders who see challenges as opportunities to build.
As PIND advances its Phase IV Strategy, it remains committed to expanding platforms that connect, inspire, and empower young people, ensuring that the Niger Delta’s next decade of development is driven by hope, collaboration, and action.
